Kremser Wachtberg
In the past, people used the top of this high hill to warn Krems citizens about approaching enemies. That's why it’s called Wachtberg, which roughly means "Lookout Mountain". The large southeast‐facing terraces of the Wachtberg vineyard go up to 400 metres above sea level. The soil has a lot of limestone and silt. Under the soil is mostly gneiss rock with some schist, covered by thick layers of loess.
